Do something!

*proceeds to dust off the blog and remove cobwebs* Hello again after so many years! As usual, I have something to say and I am here to say it!

If you are not from another planet, then you know that the Corona Virus has disrupted our lives, turning life as we know it upside down.

I know you have heard the messages and seen the videos about God using those plague to redirect the world’s focus back to him. You have probably seen the videos of the animals returning to the once busy tourist sites (super cute by the way). You have probably seen the forwarded messages about Jesus coming soon and the New World Order. You probably know about the conspiracy theories.

I am here to talk to my fellow siblings in Christ. Yes, you. 😊

What are you doing with this time where the entire world has come to a standstill?

But Keni, I am fine. Those who have been clubbing and sleeping around are the ones who need to get their lives together. My Youversion app is the first thing I open every morning. I pray everyday. I am okay koraa.

What scares me most about this period is how fellow believers in Christ are likely to miss what God is doing because we are ‘comfortable’.

There is more!

After reading the Youversion devotional and praying, what do you do with the rest of the day? Netflix and chill? Planning your next TikTok video? Scrolling through IG, then Twitter, then WhatsApp status, then gaming? Eating and eating again? Living your best introverted life? Running a sleep marathon?

This is the perfect opportunity to sow some seeds. This is the best time to let your roots go deeper.

Ebei, Keni! So we can’t lazy around a little bit? We are living through a pandemic. There is no reason to be doing the most. 🙄

😂 hear me out first, guys!

This is the perfect time to sow seeds of love. Be intentional about spending time with your family. Create beautiful memories. Don’t roll your eyes every time your mum interrupts your Instagram scrolling to ask you to come and chop onions. Don’t lie in bed all day ignoring the people God has put in your life to love.

Keni, you don’t know what you are talking about. My parents are the definition of toxic. As for my siblings, we are all used to living a life independent of each other. My husband is probably cheating on me with that girl who keeps messaging him on Snapchat. My wife is only obsessed with recording videos of our son for her IG followers.

Love them anyway.

Be intentional about it. Pray over your family. Intercede for them. Be extra loving and kind. Swallow your pride. Renew your mind and your perceptions of them. Ask God to help you see them in His eyes. Play a game with them. Ask them a question and actually pay attention to their response. Nurture forgiveness. Practise self control. This is the best season to die to self.

This is the best time to do it anyway. You are not going anywhere. 😇

Most importantly, that is what God expects from us.

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.””
‭‭John‬ ‭13:35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:37, 39‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Okay, cool story. I live alone. No family. Can I lie in bed and Netflix in peace, please? 😏

There is still something you can do. Start working on that project that God laid on your heart. Evangelize to someone with your WhatsApp status. Check on that person that God keeps bringing to mind. Study the book of Ephesians. Pray for an hour with your friends on Zoom. Finish that Christian book that has been lying under your bed for the last 4 months. Pray for wisdom for our leaders. Donate to one of the NGOs that is feeding the underprivileged. Do a mini all night on your own. Push yourself. Let your roots go deeper.

This chick paa! It is like you have not heard the news eh? All I am trying to do is manage my anxiety. I can barely handle my own troubles. I keep checking the corona stats. People are dying. The numbers keep going up and everyday I feel like coughing, I wonder if I also have the virus.

This is the perfect time to learn how to fix your eyes on Jesus. It is the right time to exercise your faith and make declarations. It is the right time to trust God’s promises- they always come to pass. This is the best time to cast your cares on Him. Turn off the news and turn up the worship. Shift your focus. Birth new seasons in prayer.

Why am I stressing the need to do something, the need to sow seeds, the need to go deeper? The answer is simple- harvest time is coming sooner than any of us think. I believe that nothing on this earth happens by chance. I believe that we will have to give account of our time here on earth- Corona virus season included.

Do something. Redeem the times. King Jesus is coming soon! ❤️

Love always, Keni

  4. One fact is that staying home during this period has with it, many challenges but the Junction of life where we decide how we turn those challenges into worthwhile avenues is one that proves our merit the most.

Personally, it’s given me a lot of time to think and to reflect – one of them is how well a life am I living for Jesus during this period? It’s not been an easy living-the-Christian-life period but we’ll do something about it.

    Thank you for sharing.
